Only a civil employee who serves in a place where the local allowance is receivable shall be entitled to get such allowance. Even though any civil employee has been posted in a place where the local allowance is receivable, he or she shall not be entitled to get the local allowance during the period or he or she may be entitled only to the allowance prescribed for the place concerned if he or she is not entitled to any allowance because of deputation or otherwise or if he or she acts in a place where lesser allowance is payable.
